1. Successful tactical drill

On the firing range “Koren” the batteries of captains Plamen Kostadinov, Lubomir Popov and Luben Nenov participated in tactical exercises with life firing. The questions were not difficult for the bigger part of the officers, sergeants and soldiers. But some of the present were for first time on the firing range. The subdivisions from 36  540 section in Plovdiv , operated in a difficult tactical situation which was helpful for them and increased their preparation . Each of the following exercises tends to be successful and better than the previous probably because the ideas for the creation of each one are similar to one another. The last exercise with the batteries of Captain Luben Nenov reached to the highest level in comparison with the other participants.

2. Good luck, Mr. Generals!

On 26.05.2006 in the building Joint Strategic Staffs, an event that will remain in the history of the Land Forces was held. In the presence of the whole personnel of the Main Staff of the Land Forces, General Zlatan Stoikov passed the baton to his worthy deputy major – General Ivan Dobrev. With excitement in his speech, General Stoikov shared, that during his mandate as a head of the Main Staff of the Land Forces, a heavy and big reform have been made. The merits for that go to everybody who contributed for the common positive results. I take my professional development, the highest honorary title I received and my new responsible post, as a high evaluation of the work and efforts of the whole personnel from the Land Forces, shared General Stoikov. He added: “I still have the hope that the new team will continue to develop and multiply the achievements. On the other hand – you will have the support of the General Staff”. He wished to his successor major – general Dobrev to be in strong health, to keep the traditions and to manage successfully with the future process of reformation and modernization of the armies.

Major – general Dobrev expressed his gratitude to General Kolev for being nominated for a head of the Land Forces, and to General Stoikov – for supporting his candidature toward the president. Major – general Dobrev shared: “I am convinced that with this staff we will work in such a way, to gain stable results”. The fact , that all missions beyond boarders are mainly presented by the Land Forces, is a proof for our professionalism. On the other hand it is a factor that guarantees that our future tasks would be implemented. We have considerable contribution to the waving of the Bulgarian flag in many places around the world. The tension inside the staff of the Land Forces won't decrease prior to the great number and importance of the tasks, shared in front of the audience Major – General Dobrev.

The most exciting moment from that day was the exchange of ïëàêåòè, which is a symbol of the succession and passing of batons between two pronounced figures who leaded the Land Forces, the backbone of the army, on the stiff but necessary road of their development.

3. “ ALTEA platoon was awarded

The official reception and the award ceremony of the military men from the 7 th mechanized platoon for participation in an operation of the stabilizing NATO forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina ( SFOR ) was held in the mechanized brigade of Shipka on 28.04.2006. The main task of the Bulgarian contingent there was to fulfill tasks concerning the smuggling of weapons, drugs and stopping the illegal lumbering. The deputy head of the Joint Operational Command colonel Alexy Naidenov attended the celebration. In his welcoming speech he stressed on the fact that the tasks, given within the mission, are implemented very well and on a high level and that the platoon received an excellent grade from the multinational commanding. The personnel of the platoon, formed only from military men from the brigade, showed that they stand firm to their colleagues from the member states of the society. The consecutive contingent, which returned from a mission abroad, proved the high professionalism of the detachments in the Bulgarian Army. A proof for that is the fact that 34 soldiers of the platoon and of the national element were received awards from the Defence Minister, head of the general staff and the commander - in - chief Land Forces.

 

4. Gas – signal weapons – “Brunie”

We continue with the presentation of the gas – signal weapons, offered by the Italian company “Brunie”. In this material we will examine some of its gas – signal revolvers and a rifle. The first revolver is “Magnum 380”. The weapon is manufactured from aluminum – zinc alloy, which protects from remodeling it in a fighting weapon. The hilts of the handle are made of wood and are fixed to its metal base through screws. This is a classical representative of the hunting models revolvers. It has ventilating rim over the barrel and a fixed foresight and a regulating sight assembled over it.

 

5. Semi – automatic carbines “Impact NT”

The French Company “Âåðíåé Êàðîí” is created in 1650 in the city of Ñåíò Åòèåí , which today is a suburb of New York . We have presented some of its models several times in the magazine, so it is already known by its readers. In this copy of the magazine we will look at two of the new semi – automatic carbines of the Company – “Impact NT” and “Impact NT Diamond”, which are innovation of the “Impact” models. The weapons are designed for hunting big and middle game. Their automation is based on principle of extraction of part of the powder gases throughout the wall of the barrel for reloading. They are made of high quality steel and walnut – tree. A proof, for the fine – workmanship, is that 2000 shots had been made without causing problems for the mechanics or the barrel.

 

6. The Japanese amphibian tank “Ka Mi” from the Second World War

The sole realm in the weapon production, in which Japan reaches a success in the period between the end of the thirties and the beginning of the forties of the last century, is the construction and production of floating tanks. In connection with the Japanese strategy for capturing the Pacific region, the Japanese constructors start developing a plan for the creation of a light reconnaissance tank which should be able to get over water barriers while it is still in motion. As early as the end of the twentieth of the last century, the floating chain – wheel French armored car AMR, have been tested under the auspices of Naval Ministry. In 1928, two amphibian prototypes are created, having as abase mainly this model. The Japanese armored cars are also chain – wheel and their crews are consisting or two persons. Their water impermeability is ensured with two big pontoons fixed sidelong of the two boards.
